Type Event Info
July 2007
Bix 7 28 July
A truly legendary run by 19000 people on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa. During a week-long jazz festival in honor of Bix Beiderbecke (sp?). Includes evening relay-team sprints down main street.
April 2007
Eugene Marathon 29 Apr
Looks pretty good. But you have to read this book to understand why. We may have to move the Blue Monkey Marathon to allow Monkey's to attend.
Blue Monkey Marathon 15 Apr
That's right folks, it's our very own marathon. The date's still up in the air, so if you have an opinion, send mail to foo. We're still planning on having it be free, with only 3 aid stations, with a picnic at the end, and along last year's route. Any EARLY opinions are welcome.
WSU 100K Relay 1 Apr (No foolin')
We are currently gathering a list of folks who want to run. If you do, please send mail to Mullet. The current list:
Mullet - 2 legs
Foo - 1 leg
Dozer - 3

March 2007
Yakima River Valley Marathon 31 Mar
Two monkeys are currently planning to do this one (Foo and Ben). It's a lovely long gentle downhill slope of 1% or less for the first 23 miles. Then it goes up a 300 ft hill and down more to the finish. That hill could be a killer.
Snake River Canyon Half Marathon 3 Mar
A nice flat warm (relatively) run down at Wawawai. Count on wind -- bring your streamlined biking helmet. Here's a previous review. Also, if you've nothing else to do, and want to see some carnage, you can volunteer to help Cody, the new race director.
February 2007
Edge of Hell Feb 17 (guess)
3.9 (one lap) or 7.8 (two laps) on horse trails, hills, rocks and sand traps in Hell's Gate State Park (hence the name of the race). Great run. I highly recommend it. Here's a previous review.
Olympia Valentine Marathon Feb 11 (guess)
For a lack of any other nearby February Marathons.
January 2007
Rock-n-Roll Marathon 14 Jan
Supposed to be really fun. And warm -- what a shock.
Goofy Marathon 7-8 Jan
The Goofy Marathon is actually a combination of a half marathon one day (Donald Duck Medal), followed the next day by a marathon (Mickey Medal). Do 'em both and you get a Goofy Medal. Walt Disney World -- Take the family. Spend a week there.
December

Colfax Santa Trot 2 Dec
Sorry, no web site. And maybe no race. The Colfax Women's X-Country coach, who usually puts this race on, has left for another position. I'll try to find out if this event is still being held.

It is! I just received a mailer from the race. Bad news. It's now early December, the route is on their cross country trail (grass and gravel, and snow and slush this year), and the prices went up. $17 preregistered (it's already too late), and $20 day of race, with no guarantee of a shirt. There doesn't seem to be a no-shirt option.

Las Vegas Marathon 10 Dec
The Blue Monkey Marathon Team ran this last year. It was a lot of fun, but I don't think anybody's heading down there this year.
November
Clarkston Turkey Trot 18 Nov
A nice easy cruise on the bike path along the Snake River, Clarkston side. Winner gets a turkey. Or maybe it's a random drawing. I think Roy got one last year.
October
Welch's Tri-Cities Marathon 29 Oct
Flat and 400ft elevation -- ah, just think of all the oxygen down there. Somewhat scenic along the shores of the Columbia River, for the most part, in and out of Richland, Pasco and Kennewick. Pretty lame web site, though.

Well, I went and it SUCKED! Here's the report.

Spokane Marathon 15 Oct
I'm told it's very scenic, but a bit hilly. Should be raining, too. Sound's great.

I went. And it's not a bad marathon at all. Here's the review.

Clarkston Half Marathon 14 Oct
A nice easy cruise on the bike path along the Snake River, Clarkston side. Very flat.
Portland Marathon 1 Oct
Just about the best marathon in the west. 53 bands along the route. 8000 runners. The Blue Monkey Marathon Team (5 of us anyway) attended -- Dozer, Mullet, Foo, Spiffy, and JVS. See here.

WSU 100k Relay 2 April

This is the super fun Blue Monkey Event. We don't hold back at all for this one.
The first year was fun...
the second year was REALLY fun...
this year is going to be a BLAST!!!

This year we are going to have a Fast team like we did last year.
We are also going to have at least one "Fun" team.
(The fast team is fun too, but us slow guys have to make some excuse for not being fast!)
This year we are going to try something new...The Wheel of Death!

The Wheel of Death teams are 5 people teams and everyone on the
team runs 2 legs. The "Wheel" part (and likely the "Death" part also)
is that you don't know what legs you are going to run. We are going to
make a large Wheel of Fortune type wheel (except vertical instead of
horizontal) that we will put everyones names on. When one runner is
comming into an exchange, we spin the wheel...whatever name comes up,
that person runs, even if that person is currently running in!

    FUN HUH!!??!!

The following is a first stab at the team distributions...we need more people obviously!
