Comments: Well, I didn't go searching for this book. It sorta kinda just fell in my lap. Of course, I don't usually read books unless I'm sure I know what I'm going to get out of it, so I tried just nibbling around the edges, reading here and there to see if I could whet my appetite. Well, I found enough good stuff to thoroughly check the table of contents, and from there I hit the sections I found interesting, though not in chronological order.
The author was involved in creating the training program for the NY Running club in the 70's and 80's. He's been at it a while. I found CHI running more useful in altering my running form, but this book does provide some fine tuning.
More details later.
Oversimplification of division of runners
Good explanation of MaxVO2, but no good description of how to measure it.
Good speedwork and hill training section, though he skips out on bouding, saying it's too dangerous to do without a coach.
To detailed a description of shoes, from an old fart's perspective, and not much useful info.
Injury section lacking detail.
