Comments: (Disclosure: Foo Blue Monkey is the race director for the Snake River Canyon Half marathon). A good little season openner. First the good news. You've been bustin' to get out and run all winter, and the weather sometimes has you running in slush, snowbanks and, worst of all, ice. Well, just head down to the canyon and the temperature increases 10 degrees and the snow goes away. It is always warmer down there. But the bad news is that it's not always warm. It is usually windy, however. If you've never run this race before, try to find a few seasoned runners at the start and ask them for pointers on drafting and pack-running. I'm serious. It's so windy some years that runners show up with aerodynamic biker helmets. The course itself is flat, and has two bends out and two bends on the way back. The scenery is great, but it changes quite slowly, which can be discouraging. All you can hope for is a tailwind on the way back.
