Snake River 1/2 Marathon 2007

This was a great race this year. I (Mullet) had never run it before. I helped out when Foo organized it a couple years ago. He quite that job and Gangrenous took over. He did a great job with it, it seemed to be going very well and all the chickens he sacrificed the night before did help the weather...it was perfect. OK, not perfect, but you really couldn't ask for better on the first weekend of March in a canyon on the Snake River. Usually the wind is blowing and there is some kind of percipitation (rain or snow). This year it was overcast but calm...so calm the river was like a mirror. I had never seen that river like that.

Foo and I took off thinking we might do 8:20's and Dozer and Fearn were thinking they were going to be slower than that. Well, we all lied...except for Fearn, he was slower than Foo and myself. Foo and I took off at much closer to 8's and held that (or better) till the 1/2 mark and then sped up some. After a couple more miles Foo took off even faster while I hung out doing 7:45's. I was quite happy and just kept chugging along. It was great to pass all those people. It sure keeps you going. You know you can't slow down and let people pass you that you just blew past.

Anyway, I did a PR (only ever ran one 1/2 before) on this one with a 1:43:01 (according to my watch).

You can see us all finish starting at this picture that shows Foo just about to finish. (Dave finishes, racing Rick Edge, near picture 157) (I am finishing at picture 166. At this point I was doing sub 7's and feeling good!) (Fearn comes in at picture 179 looking happy!)

The results are Here.

Waiting at the start: We got there early in case we needed to help Cody (Gangrenous) do anything, but he had it all under control so we just hung out with all our friends...like Bob.

Our Mayor: Nancy Chaney is Moscows mayor and also a proud Blue Monkey!

Getting Ready: We didn't quite know what to wear for the race. We all expected the weather to change on us part way through the race...luckily it didn't.

Almost Ready: It wasn't that warm out...especially when you were standing around waiting for the race to start.

All Done: What a great race. We all did well and had a fun fun time!
